Community

Sports Hubs

Community Sport Hubs (CSH’S) bring together sport clubs and key local partners who want to develop and grow sport in their community.

Our principles:

Growth in
participation

Understanding
community need

Supporting community
leadership

Ensuring all the right
people are working together

Offering a
range of sports

Community Sport Hubs focus on sustainable, community-led approaches that get clubs working together to develop welcoming, safe and fun environments for sport . Find information on a number of local sports clubs and groups taking place in South Ayrshire.

Prestwick

Prestwick CSH was established in March 2015 with a launch event taking place a few months later in June. The CSH’s main achievement to date has been to assist in establishing a weekly junior parkrun. Participants of the parkrun can also attend tennis and swimming on a weekly basis  aswell as other CSH club tasters at certain times throughout the year. These activities all take place on a Sunday morning and are free.

Troon

The CSH in Troon is longest running, most established Hub in South Ayrshire.  There have been some key successes within the group, most notably securing around £300k to help create two quality all-weather pitches at Marr College. The Community Sports Hub is a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) with OSCR approval granted in February 2017.

Ayr

Ayr CSH was started in September 2016 and held a launch event on the 2nd of April 2017 at the Whitletts Activity Centre. The CSH has a focus on increasing the number of people in the Ayr area taking part in regular sport and physical activity.

Girvan

Girvan CSH has a very focused and targeted approach to ensuring there is sporting provision across the area. Bringing key community partners and clubs together aswell as receiving funding for various projects has been key in helping to achieve this. Four members of staff are employed through the CSH along with a number of casual sports coaches.

North Carrick and Maybole

North Carrick and Maybole CSH has been in operation since 2017 and there are a number of clubs community partners involved. The CSH has successfully received funding from PAR and the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) to make some much needed improvements to the Glebe pavilion in Maybole. These improvements were made during 2018/19 and a sports festival took place to launch the new look pavilion.
